Support Career Readiness

We partner with faculty and staff across the university to help students make career connections and develop career readiness skills during their time at Mason.

Students develop these skills in the classroom, on-campus jobs, student organizations, volunteering, studying abroad, and more.

High Impact Practices

Successful alums have shared the following high-impact activities that enhanced their career readiness. We hope you'll encourage students to take these steps.

1. Visit Career Services early and often
Recommend an appointment for career advising

2. Connect coursework to career development
Help students recognize how skills developed through class assignments will help them be successful in a job or internship

Invite us into your classroom to present on career topics or assign LinkedIn Learning workshops as required coursework

3. Get involved on campus
Encourage your students to build their resumes by getting involved in student clubs, research projects, or on-campus jobs

4. Intern at least once
Urge your students to complete at least one internship before graduation and share with them the impact internships have on their career

5. Attend career events
Share news about career-related events with your classes, during advising appointments, in departmental newsletters, and on social media
